Mazatlan Mexico – Memories of Good Times

Mazatlan Mexico brings back to me some of the best memories I ever had as an adult.

For me being happy has always been related to the water and beach. That’s because as a child, I was so fortunate to spend many wonderful summer vacations on the shore of the Black Sea, along with my parents. That explains why I’m always happy to see the sea no-matter where in the world. (this is actually in Mazatlan)

Mexico has been our favorite travel destination since I moved to North America along with my husband. If I remember well, Mazatlan was one of our first trips to this country. I just happened to make the “About” page for this website yesterday, and I found this picture of us. I just couldn’t resist inserting it here tooΒ  πŸ™‚

* You may wonder where in the hell we got those “Viking” horns from… πŸ™‚ Well, a vendor was selling them on the beach to the tourists and tried to attract us to buy them too. I didn’t want to buy any, because they were of no use to us. Instead, I asked him to let us wear them while he took this picture – ha, ha – it worked! We rewarded him at the end of course πŸ™‚

Our vacation to Mazatlan happened in 2008. I only had a small PS camera at that time, but I did my best πŸ™‚ * Click on the pictures for a larger view!

Here is a view of the Pacific Ocean, a small island and the beach. I took it from one of the hotels we stayed in.

And here is another view from above on a foggy morning – I really like this one, especially with those pelicans coming from the right side… πŸ™‚

It was very safe and fun parasailing on the beach, but I preferred to take photos from afar πŸ™‚

The City

Mazatlan is quite a developed city and municipality in the state of Sinaloa on the coast of the Gulf of California. From there you can take the ferry and go directly to La Paz on the Baja California Peninsula (we did this two times in both directions, but in different years)

As an old city dating back to 1531, it has a rich culture – a mix between Native inheritance, Spanish colonists and Germans who settled there around 1859.Β  A lot to see and visit, especially in the tourist area, which is mainly by the water and downtown. Below you can see an interior mall with murals and architectural elements, plus the Mazatlan cathedral:

And here we go again by the water, with places to make one happy for all pockets and budgets πŸ™‚ I took a lot of photos there, but unfortunately I cannot find them all.

Last but not least is this sunset on the beach photo, with palapas and the island. I digitally altered it as a painting, and it’s available as print for home decor and more. Just click on it to see it in my Fine Art America gallery:

So these are my Mazatlan Mexico – Memories of Good times from 2008. Thank you for visiting and I hope you like them πŸ™‚
